Radio Foyle presenter Sarah Brett has landed a new job with BBC Radio Five Live in Manchester.

The Donegal-born journalist will host a new afternoon show on Five Live with sports journalist Dan Walker, who is best known as the host of Football Focus.

Their Afternoon Edition show will broadcast Monday to Thursday from 1pm to 4pm.

It is part of a major shake-up of the station’s schedule.

For Brett, it marks a move into national broadcasting.

The former Belfast Telegraph reporter was last year named as the radio broadcaster of the year in Ireland.

Jonathan Wall, Controller of Radio Five Live, said they were delighted to sign her up.

“Sarah is the best new radio news presenter in the UK and is brilliant at interviewing and handling live radio,” he said.
