Dungiven Sinn Féin Counciilor, Sean McGlinchey has said that following a number of representations from sporting interests in the Dungiven area regarding the refusal of funding for a new sports centre, a public meeting has been organised tonight to discuss the concerns.

Councillor McGlinchey said: “Since the decision taken by the new Causeway Coast and Glens Council to refuse necessary funding for the construction of a new sports centre in Dungiven, there has been a high degree of anger and frustration in the community.

“In order to direct this anger positively, I have in conjunction with a number of local sporting bodies arranged a public meeting tonight to allow residents and interested parties to air their views.

“We as elected representatives will then proceed informed by the views expressed by the public and sporting interests.

“The meeting will take place at St Canice's GAC, Dungiven tonight at 9 pm - public and media welcome,” added Mr McGlinchey.
