The PSNI has appealed for information after a number of homes were burgled in Derry this week.

The first burglary was reported on Wednesday morning when a householder discovered that money had been stolen from her home at Bishop Street during the night.

Meanwhile, sometime between 2am and 4am on Wednesday morning, a Nexus mobile phone was stolen from a house at Foyle Road.

Then, at about 1.30pm on Wednesday, a purse was stolen from a house at Primity Crescent in Newbuildings.

A police spokesperson encouraged householders to ensure that they close and lock windows and doors when they go out and when they go to bed at night.

"Open doors and windows give burglars open access to homes," the spokesperson said.

Information on any of the incidents can be given by contacting the detectives at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
