A Maghera man is lucky to be alive following a petrol bomb attack on his home during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Clarke White was asleep on a mattress in his living room when a petrol bomb was launched through the window of his Crewe Road home shortly before 6am.

A second petrol bomb was also thrown at the property’s front door.

This is not the first time that the farmer has been targeted.

Over the past 14 months, Clarke said that the windows of his home have been smashed twice, his oil tank set on fire and a number of his livestock have been stolen.

Speaking last night Clarke said that he is ‘living a nightmare.’

He said: “I have been completely tortured. This has been going on now for the past 14 months but Saturday morning was the final straw. This has got to stop.

“I was sleeping on a mattress on the living room floor because the rest of the windows in my house have been broken twice and I cannot afford to replace them. My head was just under the window when it smashed.

“The petrol bomb caught on the blinds before bouncing over to the other side of the room.  It missed my head by inches.  If the petrol bomb had ignited properly, I wouldn’t be here today. I am lucky to be alive.

“It has frightened the life out of me. As far as I am concerned it was attempted murder.
