Saturday Ebrington protest at compensation payments.
A protest has been organised in Ebrington Square to highlight opposition to the recent compensation payments to commercial premises.
The events follows media reports which confirmed no events will take place in the Square 2024.
The protest will take place on Saturday (September 16) at 2pm in Ebrington Square.
A spokesperson said: “Local people are furious with this ongoing saga. First we had the proposed cancellation of events, then a u-turn. Now we have compensation being paid and the news there will be no events in 2024.
"This Square belongs to the people of Derry. The former military site was gifted to the Executive and after years waiting for it to be developed, people have taken it as their own event space.
"No commercial interests override the right of people to determine the use of the site. It was there before them and any interference in its use is outside their very limited jurisdiction.
"The Executive Office have made a hames of this entire situation and it is now time for complete management to be taken out of their hands.
"This protest is a non political event and all are welcome to attend.”
