County Derry construction firm announces £150 million project

Edit: An earlier version on this story referred to Errigal Group as a 'Dungiven based company'. The group's NI office is based in Dungiven but the company itself is based in Monaghan. It has been edited to reflect this.

A construction company with its NI office in Dungiven, Errigal Group, announces plans for £150 million investment in Enkalon Business Park in Antrim.

The Company says the proposed new development has the potential to create 1000 new jobs in the local area once completed and operational.

It says another 200 jobs could be created during construction.

Joint Managing Director of Errigal Group, Cormac McCloskey, said the project will modernise the business park.

“When it was first built, the Enkalon Business Park was one of the largest and most modern industrial parks in Europe and made a significant economic contribution to the local area.

“Our aim is to revitalise the site, restoring it to its former glory and bringing it up to date with the latest technology and design.”

Errigal Group acquired the Enkalon Industrial Estate in April 2019.

Since then it has carried out £2M of additional upgrade works. The site as it stands is fully leased to key tenants as warehousing, distribution and showroom space.

The company has also set up an off-site manufacturing unit to service construction projects in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

The site currently employs over 400 people across all the business units with the number projected to grow in 2023.

Dungiven-based construction company Errigal Group will 'revitalise' Enkalon Business Park in Antrim.

The park redevelopment announcement comes following the annual Northern Ireland Economic Conference, hosted recently in Antrim.

During the conference Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Chief Executive, Jacqui Dixon outlined ambitious plans for achieving £1Bn investment and the creation of 2500 jobs in the area by 2025.

Errigal Group’s development plans will contribute significantly to these objectives.

A community drop-in consultation will take place on Wednesday 15th February 2023, from 1:00pm – 7:00pm, at Holiday Inn Express, Ballymena Road, Antrim. Additionally, a virtual consultation will run from Monday 30th January – Friday 10th March.
