A moment of true serendipity unfolded at Galway Garda Station last week, all of which started when a man lost his wallet.
Muhammad Yasir was enjoying a day trip to Keem Beach in Mayo when a feeling of dread came over him, his wallet was nowhere to be found! After searching to no avail, he phoned the local Garda Station to report it as lost before returning home to Galway.
Two days later, Mr Yasir called into the Public Office at his local Garda Station to get forms stamped for replacement IDs and his driving licence. Garda Aoife Culkin was on-duty at the time and asked for his name but you won't believe what happened next...

Olwyn Whelan happened to be waiting in the Public Office at the same time and overheard, to which she declared to Mr Yasir: “Excuse me, I think I have your wallet!”
Turns out Olwyn was also on a trip to Keem Beach with her boyfriend on the same day as Muhammad. She found the wallet on the road and was at the station to hand it in.
What a small world!
