The body of a man found in Derry city centre last night was that of Conall Kerrigan from Claudy in Co Derry.

The discovery was made at around 10.00pm in the Bank Place area close to the city’s walls.

The 25-year-old (pictured) had been reported missing by his family after he was last seen leaving the Metro Bar at around 2.00am yesterday morning.

Police say they are treating the death as “unexplained at this time.”

Detective Inspector Conor McStravick appealed for anyone who saw Conall after he left the Metro Bar or anyone who witnessed any form of altercation on the walls close to Millennium Forum during the early hours of yesterday morning to contact detectives at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.

He said information could also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
