Meningitis warning after four cases reported in North West
Meningitis Research Foundation has issued a warning to people to be aware of the symptoms of meningitis after a number of cases were reported in the North West.
It follows four people receiving treatment at Letterkenny General Hospital last week.
Meningitis is the inflammation of the lining around the brain and spinal cord while septicaemia is the blood poisoning form of the disease.
They share several symptoms of common everyday illnesses like the flu or a hangover so it is vital that people are able to recognise the signs and symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia.
