Three men who had been assisting with police enquiries following a disturbance in the Ballymagown area of Derry yesterday morning have been released from police custody pending further enquiries

Two men aged 36 were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon, while a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, taking a car without consent and other motoring offences.

They were released last night.

A fourth man, who is aged 23 and was detained on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, was earlier released while receiving treatment in hospital for injuries allegedly sustained during the incident.

The arrests followed reports that a car had struck a house and other vehicles and that a fracas had ensued.
