A special event has been held in memory of a young Derry boy who died in tragic circumstances last year.

Eleven year-old Jake Murphy died suddenly while out playing with friends in the Shantallow area of the city on July 7, 2013.

Jake (pictured above), from Moyola Walk in Shantallow, had suffered from a heart condition.

However, an inquest into Jake’s death was adjourned earlier this year following claims from his family that they were not made aware how serious a heart condition was.

Family, friends and neighbours of the Murphy family have gathered in Shantallow for a fun day in memory of Jake.

A wide range of activities were organised for the event.

There's extensive coverage of the event in tomorrow's Derry News.
