A unique fundraising event is planned in Derry in a bid to tell cancer to 'slide on'.

A massive slide would be placed down Shipquay Street as part of the event.

People will then be given the chance to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hurl themselves down Derry city centre's steepest street.

It is being organised by Cancer Research UK who are currently speaking to the authorities involved to make the event a reality.

If it gets the go-ahead, the Shipquay Street slide will take place on September 6 and 7.

The slide will be similar to one used during the last Bristol Festival (pictured above).
