Toomebridge-based manufacturing firm SDC Trailers is to create 40 new jobs, thanks to a £1.25 million overseas contract.
The news comes just days after Dungiven firm KPL went into administration, putting 202 employees out of work.
Patsy McGlone, who is chair of the Assembly’s DETI committee said the creation of new jobs by a long established firm was “a good news story”.
He said: “In a week when we witnessed 202 people put out of work due to the collapse of Dungiven firm KPL, which has affected so many sub-contractors and suppliers, this is a good news story. This is a long established company that has proactively made efforts to break into a new overseas market.
“40 jobs will be created at the Creagh site, on the shop floor and in managerial positions, and I understand hiring will start immediately. I want to congratulate the firm and the Donnelly family for illustrating their commitment to the area, which badly needs jobs at this time. ”
