Foyle Search and Rescue have revealed details of an overnight river-rescue in the city.

A spokesperson for the group said: "At 01:40 hrs today Wednesday 25/4/18 Foyle Search & Rescue were tasked by the Police Service of Northern Ireland to reports that a person had been observed entering the River.

"FSR Boat crew conducting search operations on water were diverted to the reported location. On arrival the crew located and rescued a male from the river.

"The male was transferred to FSR base at Prehen where he was assessed and treated for Cold Water Shock by FSR Emergency First Responders then transferred onward to Hospital by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

"Appreciation to members of the public who activated the Life Ring in the vicinity, also to FSR Staff, the PSNI an Advanced Paramedic and NIAS Ambulance crew for their assistance & quick response to this incident."
