Detectives from Serious Crime Branch have arrested a 25 year old man in Derry as part of inquiries into reports of alleged activity in Syria earlier this year.
A police spokesperson said the suspect was arrested in the Creggan area of the city and has been taken to Antrim police station for questioning.
It emerged earlier this year that 25 year-old Creggan man, Eamon Bradley, had gone to Syria to fight with anti-government rebels in the country’s ongoing bloody civil war.
The PSNI conducted the search at the man's family home in Creggan in July.
A security operation is currently underway in the Melmore Gardens area of Creggan.
A number of PSNI vehicles arrived in the street this morning and remain there this lunchtime.
Local people confirmed that a man was arrested in the area this morning.
