A Limavady man pleaded guilty to stealing toy guns from a local supermarket when he appeared before court this morning.
Daryl Quigley, of Eventide Gardens, admitted to stealing two toy laser guns from the Tesco store in Limavady on December 8.
The 31 year-old also pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of hair straighteners from the store on the same date.
Limavady Magistrates Court heard that the total value of the items was £110.
Quigley, who is currently in custody on matters of a similar nature, appealed to the judge to sentence him.
“Can you not just sentence me today, please,” asked Quigley.
However, the judge told him he couldn’t without a presentence report as the defendant is in breach of a suspended sentence and a probation order.
“You really don’t want me to sentence you today. Trust me on that,” said the judge.
Advising Quigley to co-operate with probation, the judge added: “While I won’t make you any promises, a good report can only do you good.”
Quigley was remanded in custody to appear via video link before Coleraine Magistrates Court on February 4.
