Two Derry schools are to share in a £540,000 funding boost, it was announced today.
St Anne’s Primary School in Derry will benefit from £420,000 investment in the coming months from the Department of Education’s minor works scheme.
Thornhill College in Derry (pictured) will receive £120,000 from the same source.
Speaking about the funding announcement for St Anne’s, Education Minister John O’Dowd said: “My Department has agreed investment of £420,000 for fire risk assessment works at the school.
“A total of 119 minor works projects amounting to over £18million were agreed in February and March across all board areas. Nineteen of these projects are in the Western Education and Library Board (WELB) area, totalling over £2million.
“Minor works are schemes ranging from minor repair to more significant work projects and extensions.
“This ongoing investment in the schools estate continues to have a positive impact on pupils, teachers and school staff and provides a much needed boost to the construction industry.”
