Tickets will go on sale on Friday for, what organisers describe as, one of the most spectacular summer events ever to be held in Derry.
Lush! Classical, which attracted 10,000 music fans to a sell-out gig in Belfast in October, is to be held at Ebrington Square on July 21.
The city will see 75 of the finest classical musicians from the Ulster Orchestra, alongside world-renowned DJs and live vocalists, playing a selection of the very best dance music from the past 20 years, all produced by Kylie Minogue’s musical director, Steve Anderson.
This will be the third show of its kind organised and hosted by the internationally-renowned night club Lush! - part of the Kellys Complex in Portrush.
The recent October 2017 event held in the SSE Arena Belfast saw a sell-out gig of 10,000 people aged 18 to 65 enjoying music from the last 20 years.
The event has now become annual and tickets for this year's gig on Saturday October 13, 2018 also to be held in the SSE Arena, are well on target for another 10,000 people sell-out.
The Derry event will see thousands of people filling out a specially erected marquee, decked with an epic sound system, amazing light and laser show, designed for music lovers of all ages to enjoy the sound track of their lives.
Col Hamilton, co-founder of Lush! says that this summer’s event will give a unique experience for music fans in the North West.
He commented: “The Lush! Classical events have far exceeded anything any of us could have hoped for.
“The mix of local musicians, world-renowned producers, DJs, and the entire production team has made this event something truly special that we just had to take on the road.
“We have been approached by venues across Ireland – but to play in Derry/Londonderry, close to our hometown of Portrush and a city whose clubbers have supported Lush! for years, felt absolutely right. People can expect an unbelievable show with tracks that all of us have grown up enjoying."
Lush! Classical, Ebrington Square will once again be produced by Brothers in Rhythm, the duo consisting of Kylie Minogue’s musical director, Steve Anderson and top international DJ, Dave Seaman, alongside Lush! co-founder Col Hamilton.
Hhilst the musical scores will be written by Cliff Masterson, composer, orchestrator and string arranger who works with such artists as Little Mix as Emeli Sandé. LSFX Productions are the locally based events company managing the large-scale show.
Ebrington Square will also host food stalls and fully licensed bars giving a European vibe to this outdoor event.
Steve Anderson, Kylie Minogue’s musical director commented: "The Lush Classical events are completely surreal. They are brilliant, emotional, uplifting and perfectly executed by the most incredible team. To witness thousands of people screaming, singing and dancing to the soundtrack of their lives is something very special.
"This summer event is so very exciting – it will mix up the vibe of the show and give it a brand-new dimension."
Peter Wilson, owner of Lush! And Kellys Complex in Portrush said: “I am delighted that we are doing the first of what we hope will become a series of events.
“We feel there has been a complete renaissance of the 35-plus clubber - those who don’t necessarily want to go to nightclubs every week but will come out to enjoy music from their younger days and enjoy it to the max. We had people age 18-65 enjoy our last two events, and we expect that this event will be no different.
