Derry Magistrate's Court

Derry Magistrate's Court heard today how after police arrested and handcuffed a woman another woman walked over and headbutted her.

Jasmine Carberry (24) with an address in Bond's Hill in Derry admitted assaulting the woman on November 6 this year.

The court heard that police were investigating an incident and had arrested a woman and handcuffed her.

At this Carberry appeared and the court heard that initially she was 'friendly and kind' but then changed and headbutted the handcuffed woman chipping a tooth.

The defendant was arrested and made 'partial admissions'.

Defence counsel Fergal McCormack said his client was not present and he could not give an explanation why she was not present.

He asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on the case.

The case was adjourned until January 11.
