A man has been fined a total of £900 for organising and taking part in an illegal parade in the Waterside area of Derry.

Stephen Robert Finlay (41) of Bond Street in Derry was charged with organising and taking part in the parade on July 20 2017.

The court heard police became aware of a crowd of around 40 people who had gathered outside an address in Bond Street.

Police held discussions with Finlay who they believed was one of the organisers of the gathering.

They informed him that if the crowd marched it would be an unnoticed and illegal parade.

The crowd then marched through numerous streets in the Waterside area before returning to Bond Street.

Finlay was fined £700 for organising and participating in the parade and a further £200 for a disorderly behaviour charge from May 11 2020.
