Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on series of drug charges

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of drug charges.

The man who was granted anonymity due to the general threat in the city appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. 

He faces a total of 12 charges including 9 of offering to supply cannabis on dates between December 8 2020 and February 4 2021.

He was also charged with possessing cannabis with intent to supply and possessing the drug on February 4 2021.

The man was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon namely a flick knife on February 4.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

The man said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on February 17 and released on bail.
