Paddy Nash on the ITV show.
A County Derry man has appeared on a long-running ITV game show, with his easy-going approach causing a stir on social media.
Local viewers of popular ITV game show The Chase were treated to the sight of Limavady musician Paddy Nash on their screens last week.
The local artists told viewers he had been into music since he first heard the Beatles play as a 15-year-old, but that he had recently developed another hobby.
“I've got big into nature photography,” he said.
“The missus bought me the RSPB handbook of British birds, so I started photographing birds and ticking them off and it became a bit of an obsession.
“If I win, I'd like to take the missus to Lofoten Islands, just off the coast of Norway. It has the midnight sun in the summer and then in the winter it's the Northern Lights.”
Paddy's opening round went well, with the Derry City native clocking up £6,000, and after consulting with the rest of his team, he opted to take the amount into the chase against Chaser Paul Sinha.
“I'm a simple man, with simple ambitions, I'm going for the six,” he told host Bradley Walsh.
During the chase, Paddy entertained viewers with his impression of a kangaroo asking for help, before beating the chaser to contribute to a final prize pot of £15,000.
However, a performance in the Final Chase that Paddy described as 'brutal' yielded only 14 correct answers and left a relatively easy chase for Sinha, who reeled them in with 35 seconds left on the clock.
Despite leaving empty-handed, the Limvady man's appearance caused a stir locally on social media, with many of his fans and supporters posting to his Facebook page.
His native wit and ability to entertain were widely viewed as the programme clipped his 'kangaroo moment' to share with their hundreds of thousands of online followers.
