Staff members at Computershare’s Derry office made their Christmas donations to Foyle Food Bank this week. The packages provided by the food bank include three days of nutritionally-balanced emergency food to local people who are referred to them in crisis. As part of a range of seasonal charity work, staff members at Computershare’s Loan services division have put together a large number of diverse food stuffs to help those in need across Derry. Andrew Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Computershare Loan Services, said: “Well done to all our colleagues in Derry for working so hard to support those who might otherwise struggle over the Christmas period. “Our colleagues in Derry have a long history of giving to good causes and supporting their local community, and I’m glad that their efforts will again provide food and support to so many households at this time of year.” Maria McGlynn, Manager at Foyle Food Bank, said: “We’re really grateful to everyone at Computershare Loan Services for everything they have donated this Christmas. “Lots of local households are reliant on the food and support that they can access through our foodbanks to make ends meet this winter, so everything that staff members here have given will make a massive difference.” The local organisation is part of a nationwide network of food banks supported by The Trussell Trust; a charity that works to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. The food bank relies on goodwill and support and over 90% of the food distributed is donated by the public.
