The Walled City Marathon got underway this morning, leaving from Everglades Hotel at 8.30am. A total of 1,400 runners are taking part, including last year's winner Daniel Tanui.
Police have advised that the event will result in some temporary road closures, diversions and some delays.
A Foyle PSNI spokesperson said: "Some of these have been implemented already and others will be implemented as the marathon progresses. We will do our best to keep traffic moving and delays to a minimum but obviously the safet
y of the runners is paramount. "Further advice on the route is available at http://www.thewalledcitymarathon.com/route and we will post updates throughout the day. "Good luck to all those taking part today. Have a great run."
