Derry man who had his car crushed after it was seized is fined £300 and handed six penalty points

A solicitor told Derry Magistrate's Court that his client had already suffered by having his vehicle seized and crushed. Ciaron MacLoscaidh (46) of Liscloon Drive in Derry was stopped by police on February 19 on the Limavady Road. He was found to have a broken mirror on his vehicle and checks revealed he had no MOT certificate or insurance. He told police he had made some payments on his insurance but as not aware he had no MOT. The vehicle was seized. Defence solicitor Mr. Paddy MacDermott told the court that his client had missed a payment on the insurance and the bank had cancelled any further payments without telling him. He said that with the vehicle being crushed his client had suffered a loss. He was fined a total of £300 and given 6 penalty points.
