38-year-old man remanded in custody at Derry court over child sex charges

A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court after facing sex charges. Miguel Ramos (38) of no fixed abode was charged with being an adult and engaging in a sexual offence in the presence of a child under 13. He was also charged with causing a child to watch a sexual act and child abduction. All the charges were said to have occurred on dates between January 1 2015 and April 30 the same year. A police officer said she believed she could connect Ramos to the charges and opposed bail. Defence solicitor Mr. Paddy MacDermott said the only address the defendant had was probably unsuitable. The police officer said that the alleged injured party lived quite close to that address and police would have concerns in Ramos was released to reside there that there could be further offences. The bail application was adjourned to see if a suitable address could be found and Ramos will appear again on June 22.
