A new store is set to open at the Crescent Link Retail Park later this week, bringing 60 new full and part-time jobs to the city. B&M will open its doors on Wednesday in the former premises of Toys R Us. Staff have been on site for the last three weeks preparing for the shop to begin trading. Speaking ahead of the opening, store manager Emmet McNally explained: “A lot of work has gone into the new store. “We’ve also had two induction days at the Waterfoot Hotel explaining to staff what the company expects of them and what they can expect of the company. “We are Britain’s fastest growing company at the minute with 580 stores in both the UK and Ireland. “We are growing week on week.” B&M already operate a 20,000 sg ft store on the Strand Road which opened ten years ago, which will continue to trade as normal. “It is quite normal for us to have more than one store in a city,” said Mr McNally, who has been with the company for 13 years. “We have two in Ballymena, two in Bangor and nine or ten in Belfast. “This is a very exciting time because B&M have been looking to open a second store in the city for the past eight. “Unfortunately, nothing suitable turned up until now. “The sad closure of Toys R Us presented an opportunity for us. “And in order to cater to the previous Toys R Us customers we have a very big range of toys in the Cresent Link branch.” The new store will offer also range of products including food, a pet range, soft furnishings, electrical goods and toiletries. “We also offer seasonal goods such as garden furniture, stuff for barbeques and picnics and camping,” added Mr McNally. “And we definitely do offer a bargain.” The new Cresent Link B&M will open at 9am on Wednesday July 4.
