Derry man appears in court charged with posting threatening messages on the PSNI Foyle Facebook page

A 33-year-old local man appeared before the Magistrates Court in Derry today charged with committing a series of road traffic offences in the Buncrana Road area of the city earlier this year. Gerard Scarlett, from Glenabbey Drive, denies committing the offences on April 28. He's charged with dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without displaying L plates, driving unaccompanied, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, assaulting a police officer and posting a threatening messages on the PSNI Foyle Facebook page A police officer told District Judge Barney McElholm that he could connect the defendant to all of the charges. The case was adjourned until August 2 and the defendant was released on bail until then.
