Police in Derry urge people to avoid the Bogside area after its officers come under attack from children throwing petrol bombs

The PSNI in Derry have urged people to avoid the Bogside area of the city due to ongoing public disorder which has seen its officers come under attack from children throwing petrol bombs. Police have said that the trouble is currently ongoing at the Lecky Road area. A police spokesperson said: "Children are assaulting police officers and attacking property with petrol bombs, bricks and bottles. "The area is best avoided."
