The PSNI Chief Constable George Hamilton has revealed that over 400 police officers have been deployed locally in Derry to address ongoing public disorder. The Chief Constable was speaking after visting Derry earlier today where he met with the local District Commander after officers came under fire in the Bogside last night in a fourth consecutive night of trouble. He said that 405 police officers had been deployed locally 'despite the social media myths of imbalanced policing'. He said: "Just spent inspirational afternoon in Derry/Londonderry, reviewed PSNI resources operating in Derry City & Strabane this afternoon with District Commander and other officers and staff in support functions. "405 officers deployed despite the social media myths of imbalanced policing."
