Traffic disruption expected after £160,000 resurfacing scheme confirmed for the Racecourse Road area of Derry
17 Jul 2018
Sinn Féin Councillor Caoimhe McKnight has welcomed the £160,000 resurfacing scheme at Racecourse Road which will start on the 23th of July and finish at the end August. Cllr, McKnight said: "I welcome the resurfacing of the Racecourse Road as it has been in bad condition for a number of years. This will address many of the safety concerns created by the deterioration of this busy roadway. "The resurfacing will improve the road surface, footpaths and kerbs making it not only safer for motorists and pedrestrians alike but also improve the appearance of the area. It is unavoidsable that there will be some disruption during the period of work which will be completed at the end of August. "While I welcome Transport N.I. decision to resurface this area I would urge immediate consideration by road service to other areas of Greater Shantallow/Galliagh such as the Moss Road, Cornshells and Drumleck Drive in the Shantallow estate which are also in need of immediate attention. "Councillor McKnight said that if anyone encounters any problems with this project she can be contacted at the Sinn Féin Constituency Office racecourse road, on 02871359747.
