Two people taken to safety following incident at the Foyle Bridge in Derry last night, police praise 'local heroes' who intervened

Two people were taken to safety following an incident at the Foyle Bridge in Derry last night. The incident happened at around 11pm, which resulted the bridge being closed in both directions. Volunteers from Foyle Search and Rescue managed to negotiate the person onto the right side of the railings, after which they were secured. However, while this incident was being dealt with, another person attempted to climb over the railings at the bridge. The PSNI said that a number of people, who they described as 'local heroes' intervened and the person was taken to safety.
