Foyle Search and Rescue announce sad news that man rescued from river on Thursday has passed away

Foyle Search and Rescue have announced the sad news that the man who was rescued from the river on Thursday has passed away today. Young Derry triathlete and lifeguard, Odhran McKane, jumped in after the man and brought him to shore where he administered CPR before Foyle Search and Rescue arrived. However, today the man lost his fight for life. Foyle Search and Rescue announced the death and offered their condolences to the family. A spokesperson said: "It is with great sadness that we have been informed of the passing in Altnagelvin hospital earlier today of the person rescued from the River Foyle on Thursday evening. "This despite the determined efforts of the Public, our emergency services and FSR volunteers on the night. "Foyle Search & Rescue volunteers and staff would like to offer our sincere sympathy & condolonces to the Colhoun family on their loss."
