A childhood friend of a young Derry man who died last month held a fundraiser in his memory at her salon with all proceeds going to Foyle Search and Rescue. Jessica McCarter of JMC Hair & Beauty held the event on Tuesday offering treatments of a brow wax and tint, blow dry, plaits, bouncy curls and individual lashes all at a knockdown price of just £10 with every penny going to Foyle Search and Rescue. The event took place from 9am to 9pm at the Waterloo Street salon and customers were treated to complimentary nibbles, prosecco and tea and coffee. Jessica said that she wanted to play her part in memory of her ‘beautiful childhood friend’. “I grew up with Aodhán, he was a massive part of my life growing up,” she said. “There was never one off us without the other. “It means so much to me to raise as much money as possible because Foyle Search and Rescue are literally angels on earth. “I wanted to do the ladies day so I could try and show how much Aodhán and his amazing family mean to me - ‘my family from across the street’. “Even though Aodhán’s gone, I’ll still have the memories forever.”
