Sinn Féin Education Spokesperson Karen Mullan MLA has said that yearly improvements in GCSE results gained by local students shows the commitment of students and teachers and the strength of our education system. The Foyle MLA said: "Results achieved by local students in the GCSEs have once again steadily improved. "The sterling performance of these young people is to be congratulated and celebrated. It also shows the commitment of student and teachers and the strength of our Education system. "The fact that this has been achieved in a context of relentless Tory austerity speaks volumes about the efforts of teachers and public sector staff. "Our young people prosper through the work of our teachers, carers and parents, and through their own strength and commitment to their studies. This should be commended."
