Tributes paid as former headmaster of Foyle College in Derry passes away

Tributes have been paid to the former headmaster of Foyle College in Derry, Mr Hugh Gillespie, after he passed away. Mr Gillespie was headmaster of Foyle College from 1973 until 1994. The death was announced by the Foyle College Former Pupils' Association. Tributes have since flooded in from former members of the school, some of whom described Mr Gillespie as a 'quietly inspirational man' and a 'true gentleman'. A Memorial Service will be held in Hillsborough Parish Church at 2pm on Friday, September 28. The Foyle College Former Pupils' Association said: "Our sincere condolences go to his wife Valerie, sons Stephen and David and the wider family circle. "A full obituary will appear in the next Former Pupils Magazine and on the school website."
