Young girl injured after being knocked down in hit and run in the Ballyarnett area of Derry this afternoon

Police in Foyle are appealing for information following a hit and run road traffic collision at the Ballyarnett Road area this afternoon. Shortly after 4pm, it was reported that a young girl was struck by a silver car in the area. She was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The offending vehicle is believed to have headed in the direction of Blighs Lane following the incident. PSNI Inspector Redmond said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information including dash-cam footage to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 887 17/09/18. "Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
