Veteran Derry Civil Rights campaigner to give talk about the founding of the movement


A well known civil rights campaigner who has was involved with the movement from the beginning is to host a talk about its early days in the city.

Fionnbarra O'Dochartaigh will give the talk at the Nerve Visual in Ebrinton next Tuesday October 16. Fionnbarra who has been highly active on the Civil Rights front since the founding of NICRA in 1967 will be speaking as part of Speeches, Strikes and Struggles: Curating Conflict Workshop & Events Programme.

A founder member of Derry Housing Action Committee, he has been a life-long socialist and campaigner for human and civil rights.

His published works include Ulster's White Negroes-From Civil Rights to Insurrection and IRELAND-England's Vietnam 1960s-1990s. Writings of a Civil Rights Veteran.

Fionnbarra will share insights from his experiences as an activist on the ground 50 years ago.
