Local man is to stand trial at Derry Crown Court on charges of sexually abusing a female child over a two year period

A twenty-nine years old local man is to stand trial on charges of sexually abusing a female child over a two-year period starting in March 2001. Because of the relationship between the defendant and the complainant, the defendant cannot be named. At his arraignment at Derry Crown Court today he replied not guilty to ten charges of indecently assaulting a female child on dates between March 2001 and July 2003. He also replied not guilty to a single charge of committing an act of gross indecency with or towards the same child between the same dates. The defendant was released on continuing bail until November 9 when a date for his trial will be fixed.
