63-year-old man pleads guilty to two charges of voyeurism on a male in a Derry shopping centre

A man with an address in Ballycastle has pleaded guilty to two charges of voyeurism on a male in a Derry shopping centre. Robert Laverty (63) of Dalriada Gardens in Ballycastle was due to stand trial today but before the case began he pleaded guilty to the charges which occurred on February 8 this year. Defence barrister Nicki Rountree told the court that given the nature of the charges a pre-sentence report would be required. She added that the victim was in court and said that the defendant would be trying to gather some compensation to bring to the court for the sentencing hearing. District Judge Barney McElholm said there would be a compensation order and adjourned the case until November 30.
