Calls for traffic signs in Derry to be repaired due to concerns over road safety
15 Nov 2018
The Derry SDLP councillor Shauna Cusack has encouraged the Department for Infrastructure to consider putting aside part of their budget to replace traffic signs and bollards. Commenting, Cllr Cusack said: “Following a previous request to remove graffiti and either clean or replace reflectors on the signs along Springtown, The Glen and Creggan Road, I was pleased to see engineers in the area. “However, after speaking to them I discovered that their works schedule was limited to replacing one broken bollard. This was very disappointing given the poor state of many of theses fixtures. !I understand and appreciate that budgets are stretched, but these are very busy roads and in the Winter months visibility is poor. “I have requested the area receive more attention as we cannot ignore road safety, especially in an area next to a local primary school.” She added: “I am pleased that Transport NI have agreed to look into the issue.”
