Parents called on to sign petition launched by every primary school in Derry this morning opposing cuts to education budgets
15 Nov 2018
This morning saw every primary school in Derry launch an online petition of support for Principals and Governors working against the cuts in education and the negative impact these cuts are having on children’s education and care. Parents will be asked to sign the petition of support which reads - “We, the parents, fully support our school principals’ & governors’ attempts to secure appropriate funding to the school level in order to deliver the highest, standards of education and care for our children in Northern Ireland.” All parents/ guardians are encouraged to sign this petition so that the collective voice of opposition to these cuts and the damage being done to our children’s future education and consequently their life chances cannot be ignored The petitions from each school will be presented by Mr John Boyle, Mayor of Derry & Strabane District Council to Derek Baker, Permanent Secretary for Education and the Right Honourable Karen Bradley MP, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland so that the voices of the parents are heard by those with the authority to change the present funding crisis.
