Would-be burglars flee after being disturbed by homeowner

Foyle SDLP MLA Mark Durkan is issued an appeal to people living across Derry to ensure their homes are secured. It follows an incident in the Bramhall Crescent area of the Waterside. He said: "I was contacted by a friend who lives in Kilfennan who disturbed two would-be burglars attempting to get into a house in Bramhall Crescent. They were equipped with tools and had broken the patio door" Mr Durkan concluded: "This is happening right across Derry. Please be vigilant - keep an eye out for and report any suspicious behaviour in your area."
