Man (80) returned for trial on indecent assault charges

An 80-year-old man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 33 indecent assault charges. Philip McCallion, previously of Moss Park and whose bail address was ordered not to published by the court, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrates Court. He is charged with 33 counts of indecently assaulting five different females on dates between 26 April 1989 and 31 October 2000. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. McCallion said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. He was returned for trial to the local Crown Court sitting on January 15.
