'Very real fear' of removal or reduction in free school transport

The SDLP will oppose any move by the Department of Education that will put financial burden on families, the party's Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has said. The Department is carrying out a review of home to school transport. It is designed to gather the public's views on home to school transport across the North. The questions generally require you to simply select one or more potential options and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The analysis of responses to this survey will provide the Department with evidence to inform the development of home to school transport in Northern Ireland.   However, Mr Durkan said there was a "very real fear" this could lead to the removal or reduction of free transport to school for children. Urging the public to complete the survey, he added: "The SDLP will oppose any move that will put a financial burden on families but we need you to make your views known too."
