Police in Derry are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in the Waterside area of the city. The PSNI received a report that the man’s remains were discovered at a house in the Lincoln Courts area at around 7.20am on New Year’s Day. Four men aged 63, 33, 32, 31 and a 32-year-old woman who were arrested were later released on police bail pending further inquiries. A post-mortem on the man’s body is due to take place. Meanwhile, David Ramsey, a DUP Councillor for the area said: “Police are conducting an investigation to try and establish what happened and how this person came to loose their life. “My thoughts are with the family of the dead person at this time. This is extremely difficult for the community.”
And,Sinn Féin councillor Christopher Jackson also expressed his condolences following the discovery of the man's body.
He said: "The discovery of a man's body in the Lincoln Courts area of the city is a shock to the local community.
"The police investigations into the incident are underway and must be allowed to continue.
"My sympathies are with the family and friends of this man at this time.
"Anyone with information on the incident should bring it forward to the PSNI."
