Returned for trial charged with causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of driving charges including causing grievous bodily injury. Connor McSorley (19), of Rathbeg Crescent in Limavady, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. He was charged with causing grievous bodily injury to a female by driving carelessly while having excess alcohol on 20 December 2017. He faced to further charges of causing grievous bodily injury while not being insured and while not having a licence on the same date. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. McSorley said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 12 February 12 next remanded in custody.
