Returned to Derry Crown Court charged with theft of charity box

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of robbing a charity box. James Lee Rush (23), of Cornshell Fields in Derry, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. He was charged with robbing a charity box on 27 December. He was also charged with two counts of assault on the same date and one charge of criminal damage. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. Rush said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on February 26 and remanded in custody.
