A 27 years old man from the Bogside area of the city has been placed on the Sex Offender's Register after he pleaded guilty at Derry Crown Court today to 19 charges of possessing indecent images of children. Thomas Patton, from Drumcliff Avenue, had originally denied the offences, but when he was re-arraigned before Judge Philip Babington he admitted committing the offences on various dates between October 2012 and July 2015. The court was told there was a total of 300 indecent images of children and that some of the images were duplicates. Patton was released on continuing bail until sentencing, following the preparation of a pre-sentence report on 13 March. The length of time he will spend on the register will be determined when he is sentenced.
