Derry man returned for trial to Crown Court on series of assault charges

A Derry man has been returned for trial to to the city's Crown Court on a series of assault charges. Calvin Nathan Crawford-Green (24), of Pinetrees, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a man on 12 August last year. He faced two further charges of assaulting a man and a woman on the same date. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. Crawford-Green said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. Crawford-Green was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court sitting on 7 March next and released on his own bail.
